The Easter season is fifty days from the Sunday of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ to Pentecost Sunday.
The first eight days of the Easter season make up the Octave of Easter and are celebrated as solemnities of the Lord. It is a way of prolonging the joy of the initial day. In a sense, every day of the Octave is like a little Sunday.
During the Easter season the Paschal Candle, a symbol of the presence of the Risen Christ among the people of God, remains in the sanctuary near the Altar or Ambo until Pentecost Sunday.
- “There is no salvation through anyone else, nor is there any other name under heaven given to the human race by which we are to be saved.” Acts of the Apostles 4:12
- “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who in his great mercy gave us a new birth to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3
