In 1969, the Guadalupe Missionaries and International Missionary Institute founded by the Catholic Bishops of Mexico in the year 1949, officially begun their pastoral activities at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Nairobi.
The church has grown into a large Christian community in terms of number of Christians, apostolate, and facilities. OLG Adams is popular and serves a diverse and challenging Catholic and community members from the Adams Pastoral Region (Woodley, Kilimani and Jamhuri), as well as Christians who come from as far as Nairobi, Ngong, Machakos, and their environs.
The full capacity of Our Lady of Guadalupe Main Sanctuary, upstairs and downstairs, is approximately 800 congregants. The Main sanctuary is surrounded by a beautiful compound of statues of Mother Mary, St. Joseph, and other saints, as well as stones with spiritual writings. There is also a wall with Old Testament books, a Wall with pastoral letters/catholic letters, and the Catechism wall. There are halls, offices, bookshop, car park, Our Lady of Guadalupe Primary school, the Ministry of the Deaf office, a library, a music studio, and the multi purpose tent, among other facilities within the compound.
Adjacent to the Main Sanctuary is the Adoration Chapel, where you can silently adore our Lord Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament every day from 5a.m. to 9p.m.
