St. Luke, Kianda Outstation started out as an art room, where the locals come together to study the Art. After the study, they prayed the Rosary together. They enjoyed this practice and later thought of forming a Small Christian Community.
These pioneers, who loved the work of evangelism and who lit a fire for good deeds in the community, approached the late, Rev. Father Roman Orta, who was then the parish priest. Fr. Roman Orta asked for a moment to reflect on the proposal before he could give his recommendation.
In 1974, when the late Retired Cardinal Maurice Michael Otunga(+) visited the parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe, encouraged formation of small communities, as neighborhood church to embrace spiritual growth among the faithful. This idea of the Bishop was seen as a solution for the Kianda faithful, who grew up thirsting and longing for the Word of God. In this year, 1974, Rev Father Roman allowed the formation of the St. Luke, Kianda as the first Small Christian Community. In 2026 the church was expanded considerably due to the increment of Christians.
